  • The V&A puts on lots of family activities in the school holidays and most are free.
  • The free-to-borrow activity backpacks are definitely recommended. I was worried when we took a backpack to the glass gallery – not the first place I’d think to take kids! – but it was fab and gave us a reason to see parts of the museum we normally avoid.
  • Go to the Learning Centre Reception and just ask for suggestions on what to see. I’ve found them really welcoming and great at talking to children.
  • Teenagers will appreciate the special exhibitions and there are family tickets available.
