  • Best for kids & teens: Don’t forget to visit the quirky Saatchi Gallery gift shop.
  • Best for parents: Some exhibitions may not be so child-friendly – check before you go.
  • Top tip: Peruse the King’s Road after your visit – full of restaurants, shops and dogs in handbags.

The Saatchi Gallery located in Chelsea, is a contemporary art gallery offering a mix of innovative exhibits and interactive activities.

First off, the Saatchi Gallery is known for its cutting-edge contemporary art, featuring works from both established and emerging artists. Kids will love the vibrant and often whimsical pieces on display, which spark imagination and creativity. The gallery’s rotating exhibitions mean there’s always something new and exciting to see.

Next, the gallery often hosts interactive installations that are a big hit with younger visitors. These hands-on exhibits encourage kids to touch, play, and engage with the art, making it a fun and immersive experience. It’s art in a way they’ve never seen before!

Also, don’t miss the family-friendly workshops and activities. These sessions are designed to get kids involved in the creative process, from painting and drawing to sculpture and mixed media. It’s a great opportunity for them to express themselves and learn new artistic skills.

Honor

My first time visiting and I really enjoyed it. It had a really nice vibe with some interesting art. I brought a friend with me who’s quite into art and we spent an afternoon browsing and pretending we knew what we were talking about. We visited the cafe afterwards and had a nice coffee to end our afternoon. I really liked this gallery and especially the gift shop – who doesn’t love a gift shop?!

  • This is a classic ‘big white rooms with random modern art’ type of gallery.
  • The exhibits aren’t roped off so ensure kids don’t touch.
  • The children’s afternoon tea at Gallery Mess is a great price.
