KidRated’s Covent Garden Top Tips:

  • Check out you’re with little ones, the London Transport Museum is a must-visit—plenty of space for buggies, plus it’s educational and fun!
  • Get off at Holborn, Leicester Square or Charing Cross to avoid lift queues at Covent Garden
  • Beware the human statues!

Covent Garden is one of London’s most family-friendly hotspots, offering something for everyone, whether you’re juggling toddlers, entertaining older kids, or trying to impress your teens. The central piazza is the heart of it all, with live street performers providing free, high-quality entertainment throughout the day. The human statues, magicians, and musicians will keep older kids captivated, while parents can enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafés. Just make sure to watch out for those human statues—they might surprise you!

For little ones, the nearby the London Transport Museum is a godsend. It’s packed with interactive exhibits and fascinating displays on London’s transport history that will keep toddlers and younger children entertained for hours. Bonus: it’s indoors, so perfect for rainy days! Plus, the museum has plenty of buggy-friendly space and changing facilities, so you’re covered for those inevitable moments.

Older kids and teens will not only love exploring the Covent Garden Market, they’ll enjoy the Jubilee Hall Market  as well – home to quirky stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to funky souvenirs. Meanwhile, the Apple store, one of the largest in the world, is a tech wonderland where they can check out the latest gadgets. There are plenty of high-street stores, too, so if your teen’s into fashion, it’s a great place to wander around.

Covent Garden also has an array of family-friendly restaurants and cafés, perfect for a lunch stop or a quick refuel. You can grab a macaron at Ladurée or get some ice cream at Venchi. And if you’re looking for something more substantial, there are plenty of spots with kid-friendly menus that will keep everyone happy.

One of the best things about Covent Garden is its seasonal makeovers. In summer, it’s all about outdoor dining and sunny vibes with street performers adding to the lively atmosphere. At Christmas, the area turns into a magical winter wonderland with giant decorations, twinkling lights, and a huge tree in the middle of the piazza. It’s a great place for the whole family to get in the festive spirit.

For a bit of culture, check out the Royal Opera House. While the shows might not be for everyone, the stunning Terrace Bar offers incredible views over the piazza. It’s a great spot to take a breather and soak in the surroundings while enjoying a drink.

Whether you’re spending the day or just passing through, Covent Garden is a vibrant area that’s sure to keep the whole family entertained. With street performers, museums, shops, and plenty of places to refuel, it’s the perfect spot for a family day out in central London!
