The Fashion Museum in Bath is a world class collection of fashionable dress from history. The museum can be found in the magnificent Assembly Rooms. Kids will love stepping into history as they try on Victorian outfits. Parents can also dress up! Click here to find out more.
While the exhibition is not very large, this makes it perfect for kids who have spent a long day visiting the many attractions of Bath.
The Fashion Museum is perfect for budding historians. The headline exhibition, ‘A History of Fashion in 100 Objects’, showcases a history of fashion from 1600s to the present day, including 10 shoe ‘looks’ and a children’s trail of kids’ fashion. Until 6th November, you can also check out ‘Behind the Scenes’, a gallery display of women’s fashions from the time of Jane Austen to the First World War.
More modern fashion fans should make a beeline for the Dress of the Year gallery. Every year since 1963 a dress has been chosen to represent the year and now stands in the museum. As you walk through why not choose your own favourite years and the years when you think the fashion police should have been called.
Check the calendar for family activities and events throughout the year. Pushchairs are permitted in the museum and there is a café if you need some refreshments.
