Move over Zoella! A new breed of YouTube star is on the rise in Regents Park. You can now catch the antics of otters, meerkats and giant tortoises at London Zoo on YouTube 24/7.
Cameras and radios have been installed in their enclosures at London Zoo, so that animal experts can to watch the creatures’ behaviour in hidden parts of their homes.
The new technology being trialled at the zoo, is called known as TV White Space (TVWS). It allows data to be transmitted over long distances and through obstacles. Conservationists are hoping to apply what they learn from the cameras in the zoo to their work in far flung places around the world, to help prevent poaching and protect endangered species. Good luck to them and, in the meantime, enjoy the Otter Cam. You’re welcome.
