Not content with smashing box office records with The Lego Movie, the popular Danish Toymaker is now setting its sights on television.
They are reportedly developing “reality competition formats”, and will be launching an interactive Lego TV series next year.
Jill Wilfert, Lego’s vice-president of global licensing and distribution, said one idea for the reality show revolves around the Master Builders, the name given to the designers of Lego’s toy bricks and also the movie characters.
“You will continue to see us in this entertainment and content space. We are working on a new property that will launch with a TV series in 2015, and we are focusing on having real interactivity.”
The Lego reality TV will build on the success of The Lego Movie, which took in over $650m in global box office revenue and associated merchandising.
In the meantime, fans can expect a sequel to the first Lego movie, with will focus on the Batman character voiced by Will Arnett.
