Keep Calm and Carry On posters and their variants are absolutely everywhere nowadays. As far back as 2012, there were already pleas for the craze to be stopped. However, the craze shows no sign of stopping as it has been reported that an original poster is predicted to fetch £8,000 at auction.
While 2.5 million posters where printed at the beginning of World War 2 in 1939 in order to boost morale in times of emergency, the original posters are now actually quite rare. The posters were not actually used during the war and remained in storage until a man discovered a copy in 2000 and decided to frame it and display it in his shop.
The rest is history. But if you want to buy a bit of history you don’t have to stump up eight grand as most museum gift shops sell great replicas. KidRated have recently spotted them in the Imperial War Museum’s Churchill War Rooms.
