On Saturday 28th March, fifteen ring tail lemurs and one black and white ruff lemur are moving into a new place in London Zoo. In With the Lemurs will be a new walk-through attraction at London Zoo where visitors will be transported to Madagascar.
Unfortunately the lemurs at London Zoo will not sing and dance like their cartoon counterparts in the Madagascar movies, but the new enclosure will give them plenty of space to ‘move it move it’.
Visit on a bright day to catch the evolutionally unique creatures sun bathing, as Lemurs, coming from Africa, are total sun worshippers. The architects of the enclosure have especially designed it so that the lucky lemurs have plenty of areas to bask in the sunlight.
While it is all well and good to spot the little lounging creatures, In With the Lemurs also has an educational message as the architects have also incorporated glimpses of threats to their natural habitat. These include a replica timber mill. Lemurs are an endangered species due to over-hunting and habitat loss. The exhibit will be a great way for kids to learn endangered species.
Will you move it move it to London Zoo to see this new exhibit?
Remind yourself of how fabulous cartoon lemurs are by watching King Julien singing here.
Lemur-lovers with Netflix should also check out All Hail King Julien.
