About Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre
Seeing a show at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is one of those proper London experiences that families remember for years. You’re sitting in the middle of the park, the stage is surrounded by trees, the sun slowly goes down and if you’re lucky the weather behaves itself. From May to September, enjoy brilliant shows under the sky. It’s not a children’s theatre as such, but every season the venue includes a mix of shows that work really well for families, especially older kids who areready for something a little more spectacular. With a picnic lawn and a magical setting, it’s a summer must for kids, teens and theatre-loving grown-ups.
Tickets aren’t always cheap (this is London theatre after all), so where possible we include reviews to help you decide whether it’s worth the splurge.
Top tip from the KidRated Team:
Shows go ahead in all but the wildest weather so come prepared! Bring blankets and waterproofs (yes, even in summer), and double-check the seating map for shady or sheltered spots.

I love the fact that it's outside, because most of the theatres I go to are indoors so this one's really cool and unusual. Sometimes it's funny when a bird flies onto the stage! Some of the things I've seen there are: Brigadoon, One Hundred And One Dalmations and The Secret Garden. My favourite was probably The Secret Garden because it was really mysterious and the stage setting was really cool.
