Sky Garden

KidRated’s Sky Garden Top Tips:

  • Best for kids & teens: Don’t forget your camera, the outdoor terraces are great for photo ops
  • Best for parents: With two different places to eat, it’s great if you want a meal with a view
  • Top tip: In winter, coordinate your visit with the sunset for an extra special view

Want to see great views of London in one of the city’s most famous skyscrapers for free? It sounds almost too good to be true, but the Sky Garden at the top of the iconic Walkie Talkie building is exactly what you’re looking for. This place is epic!

At 155m above the ground, Sky Garden is the capital’s highest public garden. From the top of the building, found right in the heart of the city, you’ll be able to see views of St Paul’s, the Shard, the Thames and many other London landmarks. It’s a great spot for Insta photos too!

Booking a free ticket is definitely advisable. They’re available up to 3 weeks in advance, but you may be lucky and get to stroll straight in – check with the team at the door. Alternatively, you can purchase early morning tickets at the door which include a hot beverage & access to the gardens. A great start to any day.

The Sky Pod Bar, City Garden and viewing terraces aren’t heated, so dress according to the weather outside.

It’s worth knowing that under 16s are not allowed after 6pm weekdays and 9pm weekends unless you have a booking at Darwin Brasserie or Fenchurch Restaurant. And 16-17 year olds will need to be accompanied by an adult (18+) in the restaurants in the evening.

Booking Advice:

  • Book in advance
  • But entrance is totally free!
  • Book especially early for weekends and during holidays

I can’t believe this place exists. I’ve lived in London my whole life and never knew about. After coming here with a friend, I can’t stop recommending it enough. I booked up (for free!) for me and my friend to go because we both wanted to hangout somewhere cool that didn’t cost us loads of money. We loved it! Amazing views of London and the lush plants added so much to the experience. This is a must do.

  • It’s fantastic we can visit for free but be prepared to book well in advance and bring passports for airport-style security to enter.
  • You can’t bring a picnic but families are welcome at the Sky Pod cafe. It’s not that pricey and getting a cuppa and a cake is a good excuse to stay for longer and admire those views.
  • The outside viewing area is totally safe and is fun for taking photos of other attractions.
  • The toilets are by the lifts and are unisex individual cubicles.

We love it here. It’s really special. The views are amazing and there is lots of space to run around. Mum told me to say the cocktail bar is her favourite bit.
