KidRated’s Hertfordshire Zoo Top Tips:

  • Best for kids & teens: Get up close with the Hertfordshire Zoo animals and visit Dinosaur World
  • Best for parents: Don’t worry if it rains, there are all-weather attractions
  • Top tip: Animal Experience packages are available

Hertfordshire Zoo (previously Paradise Wildlife Park) is just a short trip from London. This family-friendly zoo offers a mix of amazing animals, fun activities, and plenty of space to explore.

Firstly, kids will love meeting the wide variety of animals. From majestic lions and playful monkeys to exotic reptiles and colourful birds, there’s something for everyone. The zoo’s layout makes it easy to get up close and personal with these incredible creatures.

Next, don’t miss the fantastic animal experiences on offer. Your kids can enjoy feeding sessions, meet-and-greets, and even be a zookeeper for a day! These hands-on experiences are not only fun but also educational, giving kids a deeper appreciation for wildlife.

Plus, the World of Dinosaurs is a big hit with younger visitors. They can wander among life-sized animatronic dinosaur models, learning about these prehistoric giants in a fun and interactive way. It’s like stepping back in time!

If you’re looking for more fun, check out the zoo’s mini golf course. It’s a great way to take a break and enjoy a bit of friendly competition. The course is designed with kids in mind, making it accessible and entertaining for all skill levels.

And when it’s time to refuel, there are several cafes scattered throughout the zoo. They offer a range of snacks, meals, and drinks to keep everyone energised and ready for more adventures.

The Zoo is situated 20 miles north of London, 7 miles from Junction 25 on the M25 and approximately 20 minutes from London Liverpool Street by rail.

I went here on a day out with my family and it was a lot of fun. I like animals as much as the next person but it was truly cool to see these big creatures up close. When we were there we decided to do the adventure golf which I really loved. I’ve never done it before but now I’m gonna have to suggest it more when my friend want to hang out. We brought food with us for a picnic which seemed like the popular choice. I’d say this would be a good day out with friends too but only if you have the means to get there.

Have your say...

I love this wildlife park. I found discounted tickets online and it was quite affordable to go. You can literally feel the lion’s roar when you stand in front of their pen. The tiger exhibit is visible from the cafe and there’s a petting zoo for the kids. The wolf pen is very cool too. It’s a nice, more manageable alternative to larger zoos. Recommend.
