The globe was really great to visit. I’ve studied Shakespeare at school so it was insane to the Globe in person. The best thing about it is how immersive it is. You feel like you’ve just stepped back in time with it’s amazing architecture. The tour was really interesting so I definitely recommend doing that and of course seeing a play too. We saw Macbeth and it was amazing. If you’re a literature fan then you’ve got to give the Globe a visit.

  • If you want to get your kids interested in seeing a play here bring them to the Exhibition and Tour. It’s very hard to imagine what it’s like inside the theatre so let the kids see for themselves.
  • You’ll need about half an hour to see the Exhibition so book your Tour when you arrive so you’re not waiting with excitable children.
  • Encourage the kids to ask questions as the Guides are very knowledgeable.
  • The tour is pretty funny as you’ll hear about all the things that are not factually accurate in Hollywood movies. And as kids love facts they’ll remember these bits to tell their friends.

We went for a tour and not for a performance. I will say that it seemed more interesting for the adults, so it might not be one to bring younger kids to. Perhaps that would be different if you attended a play and it was the right performance. If you have an older kid or teen who is keen on history or Shakespeare it might be a better bet. Something to note: it’s not the original Globe theatre, but it is a very good replica. They were keen to use the same kinds of construction materials and techniques as the original.
