From the grand entrance hall to the luxurious bathrooms and medieval great hall there are beautiful features to admire. Inside the palace, don’t miss the opportunity to grab a free interactive audio guide for a fascinating insight into the history of this medieval palace transformed to a family home by Stephen and Virgina Courtauld. The highlight? The stunning gardens, perfect for a family picnic in the sunshine.

Spread over 19 acres, the gardens boast a variety of delightful spots to explore and let off steam, including a rock garden, a medieval bridge, and a beautiful herbaceous border. And for the little ones, there’s a large kids’ play area with an exciting ‘around the world’ theme based on the Courtauld’s love of travel. The greenhouse cafe overlooks the play area providing shelter for watching parents as well as child friendly portion sizes and facilities.

If you’re into a good “National Trust Stately Home” day out then this is one for you. I quite like seeing old architecture so I enjoyed getting inspiration from the 1930s building. As it’s only open on Sundays, it’s good one for whole family to visit but I personally went with a friend of mine because we both love afternoon tea and feeling fancy. 10/10 would recommend going for an afternoon to treat yourself or your family.
