Leeds Castle in an excellent place to take the family out for a day trip. There are vast amounts of activities to chose from and so there is something for everyone in the family. Activities range from exploring the Castle or Gatehouse to punting on the moat or playing in fantastic playgrounds.
Learn more about the Castle, which has been there for over 1,000 years! Initially a Norman stronghold, the Castle was also home to six different medieval queens, used as a palace by Henry VIII and also as an elegent 20th century retreat for the famous – perfect for any sort of history buff. Audio tours are available and suitable for a range of ages. You can also head over to the exhibition centre to see the largest collection of dog collars in history!
The castle also holds a range of special activities and events throughout the year, so be sure to check what’s on. As your ticket is valid for a whole year, you could even come and try them all! This ranges from walks and open water swim sessions to jousting tournaments and open air theatre or cinema experiences. There are loads of fun activities for kids at Leeds Castle. Drop by at 2pm any day to marvel at a falconry display, or plan your trip around a themed activity. Take a trip on Elsie the Castle Train, or take your family for a ferry ride along the river. Children aged 6 and under can enjoy Squires’ Court Playground, while older kids will enjoy the Knights’ Realm Playground, a scale model of Leeds Castle.
One exciting activity on offer is the Maze Challenge, which is open throughout August. There are different activities in the maze each week, and chances are you won’t get lost the same way twice! Return to the Castle through an Underground Grotto, filled with mythical beasts made from shells, minerals and wood.
