The Household Cavalry Museum, situated in the historic Horse Guards building, is a fantastic destination. This museum brings to life the story of the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals.
Perfect for horse and history lovers, the museum offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the Household Cavalry. Formed in 1661 and still serving today as the King’s mounted bodyguard on ceremonial occasions in the UK and as an operational regiment serving in armoured vehicles around the world. The museum also offers fun, hands-on activities. Your kids can dress up like a Cavalry Soldier, see the Regiment in action, and even peek into the working stables. It’s a fantastic way for them to learn about history while having a great time.
There are always kid-friendly activities available during school holidays, including craft activities. Be sure to check the website for special holiday events and visiting details.

This is a good one for history lovers like me. I really liked learning about the inner workings of the Queens Guard and also seeing the horses and their role within everything. We also stopped in the gift shop which was really nice. I wouldn’t put this museum on the top of my list of history museums but it’s definitely a good one if you’ve already been to the obvious ones.
