The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust (WWT) London Wetland Centre is a beautiful way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and explore wildlife. This urban oasis is located a 10-minute walk from Hammersmith and is really easy to get to.
You can stroll among the lakes, ponds and gardens of this nature sanctuary, plus there’s an indoor/outdoor café and play areas that kids will love.
Each weekend, the centre stages a range of events and activities to inspire kids to learn more about wildlife. The adventure playground has zip wires, a climbing wall and water vole tunnels where they can play fun water games.
There are numerous interactive games and a ‘digital pond’. There are also opportunities to grab a net and join a staff-led (real) pond dipping session, where you might find anything from a water scorpion to a frog. Check the calendar for full details of seasonal events.
The WWT London Wetland Centre offers 12 Blue Badge spaces, 4 manual wheelchairs available, induction loops and accessible toilets.
Loved this – had no idea we lived so close to such a large and interesting part of nature in a city
