When visiting the magnificent Hatfield House, you will not only be following in the footsteps of many important historical figures but also many film stars! Hatfield House has been used in dozens of films, including Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, Sherlock Holmes, the Tomb Raider films, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, and even Batman and Batman Begins.
The house has belonged to the same family for 400 years. You can explore many rooms that are open to the public, giving a fascinating insight into the history of its inhabitants from the Jacobean period through to the First World War and beyond. These include The Marble Hall, The Chinese Bedroom, The Long Gallery, The Winter Dining Room, The Library, The Armoury and The Victorian Kitchen.
As well as visiting the extraordinary house, you can explore Hatfield House’s beautiful park and gardens. There is also a play area, with an incredible replica model of Hatfield House that your kids will love climbing on! You can visit the stable yard shops and stop for lunch at the restaurant.
Why not combine with a visit to Hatfield Park Farm? See lots of animals, feed the sheep and goats, play in the sand pits, and enjoy a free tractor ride around the farm! There are daily shows and demonstrations given by the farm’s staff.
