The Tower Bridge Exhibition has finally unveiled its spectacular glass floor in the East Walkway. This means that now both Walkways offer a never-seen-before view of London life, from 42 metres above the River Thames.
Visitors will be able to look down on black taxis, London buses and busy pedestrians whizzing over the Bridge while river vessels sail under it. And, if you plan your visit in advance you’ll be able to experience that truly magical moment when the bascules are raised beneath your feet.
The installation took a 20-strong team to construct it and measures 11.5 metres long, is 1.8 metres wide and comprises of panels weighing 500 kilograms each.
If you’d rather not look down – don’t worry! The Walkways also offer stunning panoramic views of London while each of the 20 bridges featured in the ‘Great Bridges of the World’ refreshed display showcase a breathtaking feat of engineering.
