The View from the Shard

KidRated’s The View from the Shard Top Tips:

  • Go just before sunset – you’ll get day and night views in one go. Double the photos. Double the smugness.
  • The Shard has a variety of great restaurants
  • Visit Borough Market is a 5 minute walk away. Make a day of it.

In the words of Jimi Hendrix – Excuse us while we kiss the sky! Yep, you can do just that when you zoom up the Shard’s 87 storeys and enjoy jaw-dropping 360° views from The View—on a clear day, you can see for miles! With interactive binoculars, cloud-high dining, and an open-air terrace, it’s London’s tallest family thrill. It’s not cheap but there’s a big wow-factor for minimal effort

What age group is this best for?
Ages 5+ – younger kids love the lift ride; teenagers dig the selfies. Adults pretend not to cry at the ticket prices. Keep your eyes peeled for special offers and discount tickets.

Yes! Kids love the interactive stuff and teens will love taking selfies. And EVERYONE loves the toilets.

Nope, but under 18s must be with an adult.

What can we see?
London in all its glory: Tower Bridge, St Paul’s, the Thames, and the time travelling telescopes are pretty cool. Check out our other guide to London’s Best Views.

  • If you have a fear of heights you should be OK as, weirdly, this is so high it feels more like flying.
  • If the weather is really bad you may be able to claim a free ticket to return (it depends on which landmarks can still be seen).
  • There’s no cloakroom but you can leave buggies at the booking hall, if you like.
  • Under 3s can visit for free.
  • There’s a cuddly fox toy in the shop called Romeo, named after the fox who was found high up during construction.

The views really are breath taking and if you fancy a meal (or cocktail if you’re not with the kids!) drop into Oblik – a comfortable stylish restaurant, on your way down!
