Up At The O2

Discover stunning views of London with Up at The O2. Experience the thrill of climbing the world famous roof of The O2 and take in panoramic views over London’s most iconic skyline at the summit, 52 metres above ground level.

At The O2 the action doesn’t just happen on stage, it also happens on the roof. Zip up your jacket. Lace up your climb shoes. Hook up your harness and make your way up to the south face of one of the most striking buildings in London’s skyline. All climbs are led by expert guides, and with its highest point standing at 52m, you will have uninterrupted 360° views of Greenwich, the Olympic Park, and Canary Wharf.

KidRated’s Top Tips

  • Snap happy – The views are phenomenal, so bring your phone or camera.
  • Age matters – Climbers must be 8+ years and over 1.2m tall.
  • Come rain or shine – Climbs happen in all weather. Pack a raincoat just in case (you’ll look cool in the pics either way)

Up at the O2 FAQs

Is there an age limit?
Yes, minimum age is 8, and you need to be at least 1.2 metres tall.

Are there size or weight restrictions?
There are: max weight 130kg, waist under 125cm, and thigh under 74cm. If you’re not sure, best to check ahead.

Can kids go up without an adult?
Nope, climbers under 18 need one adult per five kids. Teen independence will have to wait.

Do I need to be super fit for the climb?
Not exactly, but you do need a basic level of fitness. If you can climb a few flights of stairs without gasping, you’re probably good to go.

Is it accessible for wheelchairs?
They run a number of private wheelchair climbs each year, but these need to be booked in advance. Otherwise sadly wheelchair users are not able to climb.

Will it be cancelled in bad weather?
Highly unlikely – rain, wind or shine, the climb usually goes ahead. Only extreme conditions stop play.

Can we take photos?
Most definitely! There are also official pics for purchase if you want the full souvenir experience.

What should we wear?
They’ll sort you out with shoes, but make sure you rock up in comfy clothes, and don’t forget your socks! No socks, no play… unless you fancy buying a pair on the spot.

What if we get wet?
There’s a basic changing area at basecamp, so you can swap out soggy stuff for something dry.

Is there anywhere to eat afterwards?
Loads! The O2 is bursting with restaurants and cafés. Whether you’re after fast food or a sit-down meal, you’ll find plenty to satisfy post-climb hunger.

How safe is it?
Very. You’ll be guided all the way whilst wearing top-quality safety harness. Plus, you’ll get a full briefing before you set off.

How long does it take?
Roughly 90 minutes from start to finish – that includes suiting up, the climb, soaking up the views, and walking back down. Make sure you arrive 15 minutes early to check in. If you’re late you’ll miss the climb (and trust us, that would be a proper sad face moment).
